In this farce, every music cue and sound effect had to be extremely purposeful and concise. The music had a whimsical feel to it, but also a game-like quality as Dorante is ‘playing’ both his fellow characters and the audience. The music lets the audience in on the falsehoods that are spun; a sort of warning that what they were hearing was not true. The music was mostly classical instruments with the occasional anachronistic electric guitar. This fit the Parisian café atmosphere that the set and theater space induced.
